One Lovely Blog Award

Thank you to Colour The Day, who nominated me for One Lovely Blog Award.  I am tickled that my blog is appreciated and considered lovely.

  1. Give generous thanks to the blogger that nominated you
  2. Write Seven things about your self
  3. Make a list of 15 bloggers you admire and let them know how awesome they are!

Seven Things about Me:

1.  The first word I said was “RC.”  I’m sure when my parents got over their disappointment that I didn’t say “Mama” or “Daddy” first, they had a laughing fit.  For those of you, who wouldn’t have a reason to know what this is – RC is the name of a soft drink.  The first word I spelled out in first grade was “Pepsi,” another soft drink. My teacher wasn’t amused, but my parents were.  They celebrated by buying me an ice-cold Pepsi.

2.  Speaking of soft drinks, I used to addicted to them.  This past April was my nine-year anniversary of being soft drink free.  I would love to say I have broken my addiction, but I still on occasion crave a soft drink.  However, I am strong-willed and I refused to get sucked back into that addiction.

3. I love wearing dangling earrings and have many, many of them.  I store my earrings in my bathroom by hanging them from wire shelving.  Often my friends have a hard time leaving the bathroom, because they are admiring my earrings.

4.  I love rocks.  When I lived in Louisiana in a place that was sadly lacking in rocks, I had a hard time dealing with that.  So whenever I visited relatives in Tennessee, I would bring back a bucket of rocks back.  I love holding rocks and feeling their vibration.  (Everything on this planet including us is made of energy and energy has a vibration.)

5.  I have trouble picking out my favorite of anything.  I don’t know if this is a defect or just a reflection of living in the moment.

6.  My main job as a kid was to mow the yard.  I loved it for several reasons:  I was outside, I would make up stories and songs as I mowed the yard and I got to wear my mowing outfit, which was a knee-length cotten forest green dress and my straw hat that I added different colored hair ribbons to so they dangled down the sides of the hat. For some reason this outfit was my child-self’s of the perfect mowing outfit and I wouldn’t wear any part of it unless I was mowing.

7.  My mother had 13 siblings (only one uncle still living) and my father had four siblings; most of my aunts and uncles had children.  I have a ton of cousins.   There are so any that I haven’t met most of them.

One Lovely Blog Award

I have the privilege of being nominated for the One Lovely Blog Award, twice in the same week; by Magnolia Beginnings and just the day before by Spilled Cookies.   These two lovely ladies really made me really feel blessed.

I wavered on how to respond, I wondered if I should combine these two nominations or follow my own rule of one post per award nomination.  I decided to keep my rule I made for myself, because I made it for a good reason.  I enjoy sharing the love too much to limit myself.  Today I am accepting Magnolia Beginnings nomination with a feeling of being gloriously happy.

The Rules for Award participation are:

1. Link back to the blogger who nominated you.

2. Paste the award image on your blog, anywhere.

3. Tell them 7 facts about yourself.

4. Nominate 15 other blogs you like for this award.

5. Contact the bloggers that you have chosen to let them know that they have been nominated.

Seven Facts about Myself:

1.  The first time I publicly used my closing “Life is good! God is great! All is right in my world!” was at a talk given by my chiropractor, Dr. Peter Camiolo aka Dr. Pete.  He invited 14 of his clients to come onstage before his presentation.  We walked one by one onto the stage carrying a poster that in our own words expressed how we felt before getting Dr. Pete’s help and how we felt today.  My closing statement I use was that day’s today and it is still my today.  I love it is my every day. I cannot remember exactly what I wrote everything about my past; something about so much pain and medication causing me not to be able to express my true self.

2.  I love the mountains. I only have been to the Smoky Mountains, Cumberland Mountains and the Blue Ridge Mountains; someday I will venture further.  All have left me feeling breathless and in awe.

3.  When I having a gloriously wonderful day, I don’t want to go to bed.  I’m aware that this is a child-like response and I’m supposed to be an adult, but I don’t want to waste any my joy time sleeping.  I also am aware that tomorrow has a high potential to be another gloriously day.  I waver between enjoying being childlike and thinking I really should buck up and act like an adult.

4. I started my blog thinking, I would at some point write up a bunch of posts and have them available on the days I can’t think of anything to write. That hasn’t happened.  I wait until I am inspired before writing anything, because the words I type out aren’t really from me; they are from spirit for me and you.  Most of the time I have my post ready sometime the day before I post it, but there are many times when inspiration doesn’t hit me until the day of the post.  I don’t really worry about what the topic will be or when it will arrive because I know spirit talks to me every day and the topic will be something I need to hear.  I just have to do my part and pay attention.

6.  I read fast; which works out great, because I love to read.  The faster I read the more I get to read.

7. I love hugs. It is a rare day that I don’t give and receive a lot of hugs. I sincerely love the people in my life and I receive that love back.  We express our love with hugs.

One Lovely Blog Award

I’ve recently been nominated for the One Lovely Blog Award by Spilled Cookies  and by Magnolia Beginnings  in the same week (in that order).  I’m tickled pink, grinning and feeling very good about my blog thanks to these two lovely ladies.

I’ve been going back and forth on my big decision: should I combine these two nominations or follow my own rule of one post per award nomination.  Sometime in the future, I may have to rethink this, but today I have decided to stick to my rule and there will be another post in the future accepting the second nomination.   Today I am accepting Spilled Cookies nomination with a huge smile.

1.  I love sunshine it just makes my day better.  When I was house hunting years ago, one of my requirements was that my new home had to have a lot of light.

2.  I know what I like and am not afraid to speak up, so I often come across as picky to others.  For example when I talked to my realtor before buying my home and gave her my list of “I have to haves” her eyes crossed.  What she said was there will not be a lot of houses that meet my list.  My answer “I only need one.”  That got a laugh.  My home met all my requirements except two: one was an easy fix and the other I learned that I really shouldn’t have had that requirement on my list.

3.  Due to my way too long list of medical issues my memory is hit or miss.  I might remember or not; some days are better than others. An example:  when someone makes a comment referring to something I wrote, I often have to reread my post to know what they are talking about.  It can be annoying if I let it, but then again I’m writing my posts to remind me of lessons learned so rereading them is what I need to do.

4. I believe in angels.

5. I have two godsons, who were old enough to pick anyone they wanted and they choose me; which is only fair, because I choose them to be my boys before they were born.  I love them dearly.

6. I enjoy being nominated for awards, because somewhere in the world someone is thinking positive thoughts about me and enjoyed my blog enough to honor it.  That tickles me.  Then there is the added bonus that I get to nominate others to share the love.  That tickles me.  Sometimes I am required to add random facts about myself which is fun to do. I’m 53 and have built up a lot of facts; the trick is picking one that someone might be interested in reading. I get to think about all the good stuff in my life and be grateful all over again.  That tickles me.

7. To keep track of my nominates I have created an excel document with a list of websites.  Yes, I’m that geeky.  So far I have shared the love 88 times (counting this post).  And yes, that tickles me.

One Lovely Blog Award

So, in accordance with accepting this award ~ these are the guidelines:

* Thank the person who nominated you and link back to them in your post

* Share 7 things about yourself

* Nominate 15 or so bloggers you admire

* Contact your chosen bloggers to let them know

One Lovely Blog Award

Thank you Jenny for nominating me for the One Lovely Blog Award, I feel so honored and a bit speechless. Jenny’s beautiful blog is  Jenny’s Serendipity.

Seven things about me:

1.  Genie is my nickname given to me by a friend, who thinks I’m magical.   I have had the nickname just under 20 years now.  I don’t think I’m any more magical than anyone else, but I enjoy being called Genie.  Every time someone calls me Genie, it reminds me that I have the potential of being magical.

2.  I work extremely hard to be a positive force for good.  Each day, I choose to be happy and to be filled with joy – no matter what is going on around me.  I will admit some days it is easier than others to feel positive and glow with sunshine.  While it may not be possible to change what is going on around me, I do have the option of how I react.

3.  I carry joy around with me: spiritually, mentally and physically.  Really! I have a red metal Christmas ornament that is the word “Joy” attached to my purse.   I literally carry joy with me.

4.  I’ve had a bunch of baby sized strokes and at least one toddler sized one that attacked the part of my brain that controls language skills.   My brain often substitutes one word for another that starts out with the same letters and my tenses sometimes get scrabbled.  For example:  I might say or write “I have fun riding on my house around the parade.”  What I meant to say or write was “I had fun riding on my horse around the park.”  As a result I read and re-read my posts before uploading them to get out all these fun substitutes.  Even then, I sometimes need to update my posts, because something got by me.   I’m noticing that sometimes when I make a comment I mess up.  If I make a comment that makes no sense, bring it to my attention and I will try again.   This has been a humbling experience for someone who loves to write and play with words.  I accept this about myself and am willing to correct any mistakes my brain makes without having to put myself down for being wrong once again.  It is what it is.   Besides sometimes the substitute words are so funny, it makes me laugh.

5.  I write because of a deep need inside of me.  Writing helps me sort out what I’m thinking and feeling.  If I am not able to write or I just do not write, because of laziness I feel out of sorts.  So now you know why I blog – I have to.

6.  I am always early; in fact I arrived in this world six weeks earlier than expected – feet first.  I’m still arriving places early and am always eager to start the next phase of my life.  Some things just don’t change.

7. I love comments.  I even like it when someone disagrees with me and makes a comment telling me so.  This makes me reevaluate what I have written; which will either led to me changing my opinion/beliefs or led me to be stronger in my opinion/beliefs.  I also enjoy leaving comments, but thanks to my battle-scarred brain, I cannot always think clearly enough to say more than “great post” or just click on the like button.
