Earth Day 2012

This afternoon I went to a local city park that has a wetlands area and enjoyed myself. This is my first official walk in a park since I stopped needing a wheelchair.  The trail is three-quarters of a mile with an option to cut the walk in half; which is what I did.  I had my camera, lunch, good mood, huge smile and am sparkling with good health.  I had a wonderful time.  Below are photos I took today on my walk. (I went to the Discovery Center’s Wetlands located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee – their website:  http://www.discoverycenteronline.org/)

I took all the photos except this last one of me; a friendly park goer took this photo of me so I could share with you.   I’m so busy looking at a bird, I forgot to look into the camera.

I had a wonderful Earth Day, how about you?  What did you do today to celebrate Earth Day?

Life is good!  God is great! All is right in my world.

Many Blessings,

Hello world!

Today, I decided to start a blog.  At this point, I just plan on writing about what is on my mind at the moment.  Hopefully someone besides myself, will find this interesting.

I’ve had an awesome day, everyday lately has been an awesome day.   All due to the fact that I’m finally out of my wheelchair and walking on my own two feet.  I love life and I have found that anything and everything I do is fun, because I’m not doing it from a wheelchair.  Even things, I previously hated to do and would avoid doing such as ironing, cleaning out my closet, and sewing.  I think my face is set into a permanent grin, I just can’t help it.

So I’m guessing you are wondering about why I was in a wheelchair, how long I was in it and what changed to get me out of it.   Today, I’m not ready to talk about what went wrong that I ended up in a wheelchair; that’s a topic for another day.  I received my wheelchair December 3, 2010 and it was a great blessing.   However, when it came to the wheelchair talk with my doctor I cried and cried.  I felt as though I was giving up.  Fortunately, for me I have a wise woman in my life and she helped me realized that having a wheelchair was a blessing, because I would be able to get out and do things I hadn’t been able to do in years.  The wise woman is my mother another great blessing in my life. After our talk, I decided the wheelchair was for now not forever.  I wasn’t giving up, I was opening up to opportunities that I hadn’t been able to see such as going to the park, going shopping, going out to eat with friends.  The keyword is “going out.”

The change was going to a chiropractor.   The universe conspired to have me meet the staff of Revolution Chiropractic here in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.  Dr. Peter Camiolo is an amazing man; he is on a mission from God to heal people like myself.   I highly recommend him.  If you want to know more about his practice, the website is:  http://www.maximizedlivingdrcamiolo.com/.

After my third adjustment, I walked without a limp.  I still needed my pain medication and muscle relaxers for a couple more adjustments after then, now I am finished with the meds.  That’s correct, I was walking part time without a limp and without medication after five adjustments.   I am scheduled for three adjustments per week for 12 weeks.  By the middle of the second week I was walking full time; no wheelchair and no medication.  I am so joyful and can not stop grinning as I walk around.  I enjoy seeing the looks on the faces of people who know me; especially if they saw me last two weeks ago.  Life is amazing and fun.

The only drawback has been blisters.  I forgot that blisters happen.  I’ve pushed myself to walk further and further each day.  I even am walking up and down stairs – with an extremely large grin and of course a lot of sweat.

Life is good!  God is great! All is right in my world.

Many Blessings,

Genie
