Daydreamers Award

I was recently nominated for the Daydreamer Award by Leigh, whose blog is Bluegrass Notes http://bluegrassnotes.wordpress.com/. I thank her for thinking of me and I am honored.

This award has very simple rules:

1) Upon receipt of this award, you are to take a mental vacation for five minutes. Gaze off into space, look out of the window, have yourself a wonderful day dream.

2) When you have returned from your day dream, you are required to take another one tomorrow.

3) Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

  1. Award this to three (3) people. You can only pass on this award to three (3) people only.

To accept this award I am required to have a daydream a day, I love these rules. I already had my daydream for the day and feel the better for it.  I hope my nominees have at least as much fun as I have had fulfilling the rules.

Versatile Blogger Award

I want to thank Mystic Circle for nominating me for the Versatile Blogger Award.  I appreciate Mystic Circle for honoring my blog.

Rules for the Award

  1. Thank the person who nominated you and write a post about it.
  2. Share 7 things about your Self.
  3. Pass the award on to 10 to 12 bloggers you enjoy, link to their blogs, and let them know you nominated them.

7 Things about Me:

1.  I wrote and probably will write again for Yahoo Voices under the name  Genie Walker.  I have a lot of reviews of books, food and products, southern humor, spiritual essays, poems, recipes, and whatever else came to mind.

2. I have only owned four cars.  The car I currently own, I bought used in 2003; the one before that I had 13 years before trading it in.

3. My father had my name picked out before he even met my mother.  The man wanted girls and he was blessed with two daughters.

4.  Regina is the name my father gave me; it means queen.

5. I enjoy quotes.  Up to this point I have rarely used a quote in my blog posts, but I take much pleasure in reading quotes from all cultures and time periods.  It tickles me that the truths of our earthbound life is unchanging and known all over the world.

6. I notice colors.  As a child, I noticed that when couples wore contrasting colors that their relationship was on rocky ground or they could be temporarily ticked off with each other.  Next time you see a happy couple, notice what they are wearing.

7.  I’ve never been called graceful. I run into doorways all time.  If there is a piece of furniture sticking out – I will run into it.  If there is a pair of shoes in an empty room – I will fall over them.

One Lovely Blog Award

Thank you to Colour The Day, who nominated me for One Lovely Blog Award.  I am tickled that my blog is appreciated and considered lovely.

  1. Give generous thanks to the blogger that nominated you
  2. Write Seven things about your self
  3. Make a list of 15 bloggers you admire and let them know how awesome they are!

Seven Things about Me:

1.  The first word I said was “RC.”  I’m sure when my parents got over their disappointment that I didn’t say “Mama” or “Daddy” first, they had a laughing fit.  For those of you, who wouldn’t have a reason to know what this is – RC is the name of a soft drink.  The first word I spelled out in first grade was “Pepsi,” another soft drink. My teacher wasn’t amused, but my parents were.  They celebrated by buying me an ice-cold Pepsi.

2.  Speaking of soft drinks, I used to addicted to them.  This past April was my nine-year anniversary of being soft drink free.  I would love to say I have broken my addiction, but I still on occasion crave a soft drink.  However, I am strong-willed and I refused to get sucked back into that addiction.

3. I love wearing dangling earrings and have many, many of them.  I store my earrings in my bathroom by hanging them from wire shelving.  Often my friends have a hard time leaving the bathroom, because they are admiring my earrings.

4.  I love rocks.  When I lived in Louisiana in a place that was sadly lacking in rocks, I had a hard time dealing with that.  So whenever I visited relatives in Tennessee, I would bring back a bucket of rocks back.  I love holding rocks and feeling their vibration.  (Everything on this planet including us is made of energy and energy has a vibration.)

5.  I have trouble picking out my favorite of anything.  I don’t know if this is a defect or just a reflection of living in the moment.

6.  My main job as a kid was to mow the yard.  I loved it for several reasons:  I was outside, I would make up stories and songs as I mowed the yard and I got to wear my mowing outfit, which was a knee-length cotten forest green dress and my straw hat that I added different colored hair ribbons to so they dangled down the sides of the hat. For some reason this outfit was my child-self’s of the perfect mowing outfit and I wouldn’t wear any part of it unless I was mowing.

7.  My mother had 13 siblings (only one uncle still living) and my father had four siblings; most of my aunts and uncles had children.  I have a ton of cousins.   There are so any that I haven’t met most of them.

The Commenter Award

I was nominated for The Commenter Award by Our Souls Purpose, because to my surprise I am top commenter on her blog.  I’m surprised, because I don’t feel as though I comment as much as I would like.

I did a little research and found the rules this award:

1.  Thank the person who nominated you and post a link back to their blog.

2.  Nominate the top 6 commenters for your blog.  (look at the bottom of the page on the right of you site states page).

3.  Nominate one other commenter and give the reason why you chose them.

4.  Notify the nominees.

Because I have nerd tendencies and because I just realized there are stats I didn’t know were collected –I have other comment stats to share:

Total comments made on my blog: 410 (I took out the number of comments I made)

The time of day when most of the comments were made:  7 am

The blog post with the most comments: Walking in Sunshine.

My top 6 commenters:

6. magsx2.wordpress.com/

5. hopethehappyhugger.wordpress.com/

4. marieoverfors.com/

3. waitingforthekarmatruck.com/

2. silentlyheardonce.wordpress.com/

Drum roll for my top commenter:

1.  jennysserendipity.wordpress.com/

And my bonus commenter is (we need another drum roll): Patti Clark.    After much debate with myself, I decided to look to see who was the first person to comment on my blog and nominate them.

Please visit these wonderful people’s blogs.

Mrs. Sparkly’s Ten Commandments Award

The rules for this award are that you must answer the following ten questions and nominate ten blogs that you think deserve the award.

1. Describe yourself in seven words.

Grateful, Caring, Stubborn Determined, Weird Unique, Spiritual, Blunt, Smart-alecky

2. What keeps you up at night?

At this point in my life, only pain messes with my sleep. Worrying about stuff isn’t my thing anymore.

3. Whom would you like to be?

A better me.

4. What are you wearing now?

Dangling earrings, jeans, cotton shirt and crocks.

5. What scares you?

I’m afraid of being one of those people who do not follow their core values when tested and end up saying “I was just doing what I was told.”  That scares me silly.

6. What are the best and worst things about blogging?

The best thing is the unexpected bonus of chatting with so many interesting people.

The worst thing has to be: stop visiting other people’s blogs and get busy with my own blog.

7. What was the last website you looked at?

My Healing Joyfully Facebook page

8. If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?

I would be less resistant to change.

9. Slankets, yes no?

I was getting ready to Google the term “slankets” when commonsense spoke up and said “If you don’t know what it is, then that would be a no.”

10. Tell us something about the person who nominated you.

I was nominated by Kim of Silently Heard Once, who posts beautiful poetry on her blog.  The most recent thing I learned about Kim is she has trouble figuring out how to link back to another webpage. 🙂

My 10 Nominates:

One Lovely Blog Award

I have the privilege of being nominated for the One Lovely Blog Award, twice in the same week; by Magnolia Beginnings and just the day before by Spilled Cookies.   These two lovely ladies really made me really feel blessed.

I wavered on how to respond, I wondered if I should combine these two nominations or follow my own rule of one post per award nomination.  I decided to keep my rule I made for myself, because I made it for a good reason.  I enjoy sharing the love too much to limit myself.  Today I am accepting Magnolia Beginnings nomination with a feeling of being gloriously happy.

The Rules for Award participation are:

1. Link back to the blogger who nominated you.

2. Paste the award image on your blog, anywhere.

3. Tell them 7 facts about yourself.

4. Nominate 15 other blogs you like for this award.

5. Contact the bloggers that you have chosen to let them know that they have been nominated.

Seven Facts about Myself:

1.  The first time I publicly used my closing “Life is good! God is great! All is right in my world!” was at a talk given by my chiropractor, Dr. Peter Camiolo aka Dr. Pete.  He invited 14 of his clients to come onstage before his presentation.  We walked one by one onto the stage carrying a poster that in our own words expressed how we felt before getting Dr. Pete’s help and how we felt today.  My closing statement I use was that day’s today and it is still my today.  I love it is my every day. I cannot remember exactly what I wrote everything about my past; something about so much pain and medication causing me not to be able to express my true self.

2.  I love the mountains. I only have been to the Smoky Mountains, Cumberland Mountains and the Blue Ridge Mountains; someday I will venture further.  All have left me feeling breathless and in awe.

3.  When I having a gloriously wonderful day, I don’t want to go to bed.  I’m aware that this is a child-like response and I’m supposed to be an adult, but I don’t want to waste any my joy time sleeping.  I also am aware that tomorrow has a high potential to be another gloriously day.  I waver between enjoying being childlike and thinking I really should buck up and act like an adult.

4. I started my blog thinking, I would at some point write up a bunch of posts and have them available on the days I can’t think of anything to write. That hasn’t happened.  I wait until I am inspired before writing anything, because the words I type out aren’t really from me; they are from spirit for me and you.  Most of the time I have my post ready sometime the day before I post it, but there are many times when inspiration doesn’t hit me until the day of the post.  I don’t really worry about what the topic will be or when it will arrive because I know spirit talks to me every day and the topic will be something I need to hear.  I just have to do my part and pay attention.

6.  I read fast; which works out great, because I love to read.  The faster I read the more I get to read.

7. I love hugs. It is a rare day that I don’t give and receive a lot of hugs. I sincerely love the people in my life and I receive that love back.  We express our love with hugs.

One Lovely Blog Award

I’ve recently been nominated for the One Lovely Blog Award by Spilled Cookies  and by Magnolia Beginnings  in the same week (in that order).  I’m tickled pink, grinning and feeling very good about my blog thanks to these two lovely ladies.

I’ve been going back and forth on my big decision: should I combine these two nominations or follow my own rule of one post per award nomination.  Sometime in the future, I may have to rethink this, but today I have decided to stick to my rule and there will be another post in the future accepting the second nomination.   Today I am accepting Spilled Cookies nomination with a huge smile.

1.  I love sunshine it just makes my day better.  When I was house hunting years ago, one of my requirements was that my new home had to have a lot of light.

2.  I know what I like and am not afraid to speak up, so I often come across as picky to others.  For example when I talked to my realtor before buying my home and gave her my list of “I have to haves” her eyes crossed.  What she said was there will not be a lot of houses that meet my list.  My answer “I only need one.”  That got a laugh.  My home met all my requirements except two: one was an easy fix and the other I learned that I really shouldn’t have had that requirement on my list.

3.  Due to my way too long list of medical issues my memory is hit or miss.  I might remember or not; some days are better than others. An example:  when someone makes a comment referring to something I wrote, I often have to reread my post to know what they are talking about.  It can be annoying if I let it, but then again I’m writing my posts to remind me of lessons learned so rereading them is what I need to do.

4. I believe in angels.

5. I have two godsons, who were old enough to pick anyone they wanted and they choose me; which is only fair, because I choose them to be my boys before they were born.  I love them dearly.

6. I enjoy being nominated for awards, because somewhere in the world someone is thinking positive thoughts about me and enjoyed my blog enough to honor it.  That tickles me.  Then there is the added bonus that I get to nominate others to share the love.  That tickles me.  Sometimes I am required to add random facts about myself which is fun to do. I’m 53 and have built up a lot of facts; the trick is picking one that someone might be interested in reading. I get to think about all the good stuff in my life and be grateful all over again.  That tickles me.

7. To keep track of my nominates I have created an excel document with a list of websites.  Yes, I’m that geeky.  So far I have shared the love 88 times (counting this post).  And yes, that tickles me.

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

Recently, Amber aka Lady Lovely Blogger  nominated me for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award.  I am proud to be a member the sisterhood and am honored that Amber choose me.

To accept this awesome award, I must

1. Tell you 7 things you didn’t know about me.

2. Nominate 5 bloggers

Seven Things You Just Don’t Know About Me:

1.  I love people and enjoy being around them, but I have to have a lot of alone time to recharge.

2.  When someone asks me to cut my flowers so they can take some home with them; I always ask in horror “You want me to murder my flowers?”

3.  My major in college was “History with an emphasis in Historic Preservation.”  My minor was “American Culture and Intellectual History.”  I cannot say my minor without a huge smirk on my face. It just sounds so pretentious and that is so not me; even as I sit here writing it out, there is a smirk on my face.

4. I am a Star Trek fan, probably not to the point of being labeled a Trekkie.  I have watched and re-watched all the TV series, the movies and read a ton of Star Trek books, but you will not find me in costume at a Star Trek convention.

5.   Things like keys, glasses, and watches disappear on me all the time.   It’s not always me being careless where I put things.  I have witnesses.  For instance, I had a watch disappear for three years then come back to me.  I took the watch off at my mother’s house laid it on the counter, when it was time to go home my watch was nowhere to be found.  Three years later, my mother found it in her couch cushions.  At that time in her life, my mother would rearrange the furniture at least four times a year.  I personally helped her several times by taking all the cushions out of the room then moving the various pieces of furniture.  The watch was not there. What is even weirder is that watch had a battery that only lasted about a year before it needed changing. When it reappeared, the watch was still ticking AND I didn’t have to replace the battery for a year.  I still wonder where it went for three years.  Some place where time doesn’t exist?

6.  Speaking of watches; I no longer wear one, because watches will not keep correct time when I’m wearing them.  A friend of mine always insists on going in my car, because she loves to monitor the clock in there.  It tickles her that it will be 17 minutes ahead one day then the next it might be an hour and 12 minutes ahead.  I just realized that it is always ahead, never behind.  I wonder if that means something.  I can tell you why it just from 17 minutes to an hour and 17 minutes – I was caught in a traffic nightmare when we traveled to Nashville for the day.  I not one to have road rage, but apparently I send out enough get-me-out-of-here energy that time moves.

7.  I enjoy looking at my blog stats by country. It just amazes me that people around this planet are reading my words.  I am blessed.

I love my mother’s pecan pie.  No, that’s not right; I love my mother’s peach cobbler.  No, it’s definitely the pecan pie…peach cobbler…pe… I just can’t decide.  They are both sugar free, gluten free, dairy free, but certainly not taste free. I know, I’ll go shopping for pecans and peaches and talk my mother into making one of each and do a taste test.  Wait…I just remembered we already did that and I couldn’t make up my mind.  Oh well, I love them both and my mother too!
